Great Gift Idea for a Photographer

I saw another one like this on another photographers blog recently. They were giving out during the Olympics I guess at the Canon booth.

They are pretty expensive, but would be a great gift to any photographer Im sure, even if they did not drink coffee, hot chocolate or hot tea. They could drink other beverages in it. I do drink coffee, so it would be GREAT! LOL

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We had a great time at moms in Kingsland this year. The kids all had a great time and the food was oh so yummy! The day after we did a quick photoshoot with Grandma and then me, grandma and mom went shopping on black Friday. We had a blast!

Kings battle with diabetes is over...

We got king in 2002 during our trip to Kingsland, GA to visit mom and dad. This was also the same vacation trip that Dan proposed to me. King was only about 5 weeks old when we got him and we drove all the way back to Kansas with him... was so tiny, but his coloring was more like a Rottweiler or something... that is part of where the name came from and that we got him in Kingsland.
Right from the start.. King was the best dog ever.. listened and learned tricks very well.. We took him everywhere with us.. if we left the house.. King was with us.. He loved to go places and loved the car rides. He was smart too, if we were going out to Grandma Teresas house (at this time they had a huge house with a huge yard.. more room than a dog knew what to do with) King knew about 3 roads over that we were getting close to their house and started getting really excited in the car.. He was very smart.
Before we moved and before having Ryan and Tyler.. we went a lot of places and played that game Geocaching.. King loved those times.. He got to run and run.. He was such a hyper dog.. loved to play and run. We had a lot of great great times with him.
A little over a year ago King was doing strange things like drinking a lot and peeing in the house which is very very unusual for King. We finally took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. We were required to check his blood daily and give insulin shots daily as well.. This also meant that all the food and treats we were giving him had to stop. That was the hard part all this time with Ryan and Tyler feeding him the foods they didnt want to eat themselves.
For the most part this past year was not bad for King. However he did loose a bit of weight over this year, but up until this past two weeks and then this last week was really bad. But his battle with this disease if over and we are grateful for that.
Thanks everyone for the king wishes and thoughts of our great dog King.
And if any of you are wondering... NO we are not getting a new pets.

Small Update

First off, we had a great time this past Memorial Weekend.. The weather was crud.. but Danny and Marie and Jack came to visit.. So mom and dad and great grandma came up as well.. We did the BBQ thing and it was great! Zac will be turning 14 this week, so we had a small family style bday party for him!! He was SUPER shocked!! We got him his very own Dell laptop for his birthday! He is the happiest 14 year old we know right now.. It was great seeing his face when he tore the wrapping off and saw that big Dell logo on the box.. LOL

Jack is getting so big, and I hope that we will see them more this summer, which by the way Danny and Marie said that they probably will try to get down a few times (being that they were not able to swim in our new pool due to the weather) Jack is such a handsome boy and so much fun to watch him play with Ryan and Tyler..

On another note.. Ryan is pretty much potty trained!! He is doing so great.. and we only have him in underwear during the day.. He is doing pretty good at night too.. but we are not risking it just yet.. LOL It is a big deal for us to have him potty trained.. what a huge relief.. now just to get Tyler potty trained as well..

I hope everyone had a great Christmas or Holiday! We had a nice one with the family up in South Carolina. The kids had so much fun and so did the grown ups.
Here is just a few snaps of my kiddo's.

HOLIDAY EATING TIPS

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare.. You cannot find it any other time
of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if
you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for
me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3.If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand
alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in
the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table,
you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the
corner. Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an
attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

A Christmas Story for people having a bad day:

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the cider and hidden the rum. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broo m and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Our Dog King is sick..

King was diagnosed with diabetes last week. It is truly not something we expected at all.
We noticed something was up probably in the first week of October. He needed to pee all the time and sometimes could not wait to get out the door before he was peeing on the floor, which most of you know that is not like King at all. So we finally made an appointment for him and he was treated for UTI with antibiotics... well 7 days of that and no change really. So we made another appointment. Turns out that he has Type I diabetes. We were shocked and never heard of a dog with diabetes. (Well I never had, Dan says he has before)
So here we are now, testing blood sugar and giving insulin to our dog. If you were to look at him, he looks fine.. He has lost a lot of weight this past month though. From the begging of October he has lost about 5-6 pounds.. so this diabetes is really bad stuff.
Oh and the cost of this is out of this world.. no insurance for our dog.. wonder if I can add him to our family plan?? LOL

Trick or Treat time? We sure did, and boy did these kids get way too much candy! Mom and dad drove up to spend the evening with us and walk around the neighborhood with the kids. We had so much fun! Tyler and Ryan got the hang of the whole process very fast too.. pretty soon Tyler was reaching into bowls and getting candy, one time, two times and even reaching in the bowl three times or more.. But because they were so cute, not too many people took offense to it.. LOL We laughed and laughed at that. We found out that Ryans favorite candy is the tootsie lolipops and he ate more than his share this night. LOL At one point he had some other type of candy in his hand, and we arrive at another persons door and they had those tootsie pops in their bowl too, well Ryan decided to trade candy with them, without even asking.. He throws that one candy in and picks out a tootsie pop. We joked about all the candy he ate would keep him up all night, and that turned out to be totally true. He was up talking and talking and talking and talking for hours.. it was not funny anymore.

He lined up his cars, then notices a few other toys that didnt match the car line, but did match the colors.. so put those toys with the same color cars... I just had to take a picture of it.

So you get the idea!?! How bad do you miss your brothers? I will bet that you can't miss them more than I. Guys, I wish I could put Kansas on the Coast and we could laugh this all away. Well this weekend is our Halloween party! Im so excited about having this party. We dont do many things anymore.. so this is a treat for us.
Danny is out of town for work right now and will be back Saturday, just in time to get ready for our fun party.
Tyler had another allergic reaction to shrimp the other day, but he is better today. The daycare forgot about his allergy and gave him shrimp flavored roman noodles (I would not have thought that there was real shrimp in those noodles)

We ended up having to change servers for all of our websites and in doing so, I lost the database for the old guestbook.. so I decided to do away with that as well as the news which was not news anyway...
